Johnny Depp sold last of five condos at DTLA’s Eastern Columbia Building

November 14, 2017

The pirate is officially sailing away from Eastern Columbia Building.

Actor Johnny Depp sold his last remaining penthouse at the 13-story Art Deco building at 849 South Broadway for $1.43 million, the Los Angeles Times reported. It is now listed for lease at $5,500 per month.

The penthouse was part of a five-unit complex which originally listedfor a combined $12.78 million last year. Altogether, the actor raked in $10.88 million, roughly $3.7 million more than what he paid for the properties in 2007 – 2008.

Spanning 1,780 square feet, the unit features a loft-style floor plan with exposed brick and steel-panned windows. One bedroom, one half-bathroom and a mural by Brazilian street artist Osgemeos fill the space.

Kevin Dees of the Agency had the listing.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star has credits in a variety of films, including “Alice in Wonderland,” the more recent “Murder on the Orient Express,” “Edward Scissorhands,” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” Depp was recently entailed in a legal battlewith the Management Firm over lost fortunes totaling $650 million. His real estate portfolio — including a 45-acre chateau in France, five homes in the Hollywood Hills and another property in the Bahamas — was called into question at the time.
