Developers pitch supertall Waldorf Astoria hotel and condo tower for downtown

November 6, 2018

Downtown’s skyline could reach new heights thanks to a supertall tower unveiled by developers on Friday. Dubbed the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences, the combination hotel and condo skyscraper slated for 300 Biscayne Boulevard represents the Waldorf Astoria brand’s first foray into the Miami market.

The project comes from New York developer Property Markets Group (PMG), Toronto-based Greybrook Realty Partners, and Miami’s S2 Development. The team released a single rendering by local firm Sieger Suarez Architects showing a design resembling a series of glassy cubes stacked nine high.

Topping out at 1,049 feet above Biscayne Bay, the Waldorf Astoria could go on to claim the title of Miami’s tallest building—a distinction that currently goes to Brickell’s 868-foot Panorama Tower. The newly revealed building would also surpass the upcoming 890-foot Okran Tower and just squeak past the proposed 1,000-foot Skyrise observation deck and thrill ride.

The Waldorf Astoria development is expected to contain 140 hotel rooms and 400 luxury condos with pricing to be determined. Pre-sales are scheduled to launch in late 2019, reports the Miami Herald.
